Dearest & Most Generous Readers,
The third book in the Generous Press catalogue is officially out next week! Meet us on the internet for a legendary virtual book launch next Wednesday evening, 9/10/25, in which NEARLY ROADKILL authors / iconic queers Kate Bornstein and Caitlin Sullivan will be joined by RED, WHITE, and ROYAL BLUE author Casey McQuiston, for a cross-generational, full-of-brilliance chat about gender identity, cybersex, and the dream of pleasure, safety, and liberation for every body.
When you pre-order a copy through Charlie’s Queer Books, you will receive a rare copy signed by both authors (via an adorable bookplate), and one of two limited edition vinyl stickers, shown below.

The video above excerpts one of so many fantastic conversations we’ve had about this book, presented as an appetizer of sorts. The full meal will be the launch next week. Amber Flame and I will be there to introduce the event and say hello to you, too.
NEARLY ROADKILL: QUEER LOVE ON THE RUN is a rowdy cyber-romance originally written in the 1990s, in which two people meet online and fall in love in every guise they can manage. As Scratch and Winc go from anonymous lovers to accidental heroes and gender outlaws, they expose the shadowy Web stretched between technology and capitalist greed, nearly becoming roadkill on the internet superhighway. With a little help from their friends including a brave teenager and a mysterious hacker, these darling rebels fight government intervention in an eerily prescient tale. The 30th anniversary “reboot” edition includes an updated lens for today’s readers, as GenZ investigative journalist Drew uncovers what just might be the greatest queer love story of all time.
After the virtual launch, catch the authors on tour in Baltimore (9/13), Providence (10/4), West Virgina (10/8), and New York City (10/19, 3pm)—details in a subsequent email soon!
We are so proud to publish this book, and to be in community with readers like you.
Love you very much, more soon,
Elaina Ellis, Publisher (& the small but mighty Generous Press Team)
